Location: We support clients throughout metro area. DSP’s are expected to travel within a designated range to meet with their clients.

  • This position involves driving. There is no “home-base”, this is a community-based role. Employees are compensated for drivetime between worksite locations.

Pay Rate: $19.00/hour

Schedule: Full Time & Part Time: unit-based services offer flexible scheduling opportunities that are perfect for students, parents, and already employed professionals!

  • Hours Available: shifts are scheduled primarily M-F morning & afternoon hours (First Shift)

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have flexible availability to meet the support preferences and needs of clients

Job Description:

We are looking for skilled professionals to work with the individuals we support one-on-one in order to develop and achieve independent living skill goals. The Individualized Home Support Specialist (IHSS) works directly with individuals with Physical Disabilities, Mental Illnesses, and Developmental Disabilities providing skill-building and instructional services to acquire, retain and improve the person’s experience living in the community. Individualized home supports can be provided in the individual’s own home, family’s home, or in community spaces used by the general public, and service delivery is provided either in person or remotely. Professional Responsibilities of the IHSS:

  • Plan and participate in person-centered activities including coordinating and maintain schedule with individuals served

  • Provide cueing, skill maintenance, guidance, instruction, assistance with activities of daily living, and assistance with coordination of community living activities or direct supervision

  • Periodic individual program support plan review and documentation

  • Training via in-servicing, role modeling and staff meetings in the area of program services including: IHS goal areas, behavioral plans or approaches, documentation and client approach/rapport

  • Coaching and working with the individuals on community living service categories:

    • Community participation

    • Health, safety and wellness

    • Household management

    • Adaptive skills

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRMENTS

  • Driver’s license and dependable transportation.

  • Ability to pass DHS background study

  • One year of experience working per persons with disabilities (Three years preferred)

  • Ability to Multi-task and work under time constraints

  • Excellent communication skills with clients, staff and other service providers

  • Proactive approach to case management demonstrating leadership skills at all times with the ability to work independently

  • Strong assessment and organizational skills

  • Four-year degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Human Services (Preferred)
